You can feel confident in choosing to earn a nursing certification from NURU Health Institute. Our virtual platforms for interfacing are up-to-date and relevant to optimizing the educational exchange. The Associates of Science in Nursing (ASN) program offered is confirmed by the Florida Board of Nursing. The curriculum will challenge you to develop insight, knowledge, skills and overall competencies you can apply directly to your working environment. Along with passing all courses, successful completion of the ASN program also requires passing a national exam and applying for licensure within your state. The necessary steps to consider are indicated below:

  1. Passing the Pre-Admission Assessment As part of your application requirements for the ASN program, you will have to take and successfully pass a Pre-Admissions Essential Assessment (Pre-AEA). Passing this assessment is depictive of the base level of educational aptitude you have to be in order to participate in the demands of the program.

  2. Tier Placement for ASN Holder, Non-Holder, Active or Non-Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) status? NURU Health Institute uses a Tier system for the ASN program. These are classified as Tier 1 and Tier 2. The former generally enrolls candidates with no or none active LPN status, while Tier 2 is for candidates who have active LPN status upon beginning and during the application process. Among the documents to submit during application will be the need for proving your LPN status as active. Based on the outcome in transferring eligible and qualified courses, you will then be placed into the relevant Tier.

  3. Fulfill All Course Requirements Successfully You will have to meet the minimum educational performance requirements for each course offered in the program in order to move on to the next step of a CAPSTONE.

  1. CAPSTONELearners get the opportunity to explore the role of the professional nurse in the healthcare environment in final preparations for practice as a registered nurse. The CAPSTONE is an overview of all courses, labs and clinical work covered in the program. The finale of the CAPSTONE is an EXIT Exam comprising of theory and clinical components. Success in both aspects of the EXIT Exam will earn you an Associates Degree in Nursing. At this point, you will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN)

  2. Taking the NCLEX-RN Passing the NCLEX-RN is a requirement that must be satisfied before you can apply for a nursing license in a specific state of interest. Exam takers are generally given ONLY three chances to take this exam. Upon success, you will then be able to apply for a nursing license.

  3. Applying for a Nursing License Applying for a nursing license is done through the State Board of Nursing with respect to the state you wish to work (e.g. FLBN, NYBN, CABN). Generally, applicants must:
    - Complete and sign an original copy of the application. This must be mailed or brought into the board office in person.
    - Pay the application fee
    - Submit fingerprints
    - Have a certificate of completion from the nursing school sent directly to the respective Board of Nursing adviced (if you graduated out-of-state, official transcripts may be required).

Upon receipt and review of your application and with all criteria's met, you will be issued a nursing license. Your nursing license will need to be renewed periodically with this varying based on the state of issuance. Ensure you confirm with your respective state.

    Word to the Wise

Being successful in anything comes with a predetermined intent to achieve. Becoming an RN is a significant goal that carries with it tremendous responsibilities. Regardless of speciality, the ultimate work of an RN is to attend to people in times of vulnerability, that is, when they are challenged with sickness. Therefore, when people are trusting you with their well-being at a time when the may not be fully capable of taking care of themselves, the question should not be how quickly can you graduate, but rather, how well have you prepared to meet task. The latter should be your focus in your pursuits as the lives of others depends on it, literally.
